Great Falls, VA (22066) is one of the
wealthiest suburbs of Washington, D.C.
located along the Potomac River. Many
important and influential people live there.
Lots are large, typically 1/2, 2, 5, or 10
acres and up. Many are zoned for horses and
some of the larger lots have horse riding
rings, particularly those occupied by older
homes.Although primarily a bedroom community
for Washington, D.C., one major attraction
is Great Falls Park which overlooks the
Great Falls of the Potomac, for which the
community and the park are named. George
Washington was involved with building a
canal around the falls on the southwest, or
Virginia, side, called the Patowmack canal,
which unfortunately did not become
commercially viable. Remnants of the canal
and of a village around the canal are still
visible in the park. River Bend County Park
is another pleasant gathering area in Great
Falls, as is the Village Green, which hosts
community celebrations around Easter (Egg
Hunt), Fourth of July, Halloween,
Thanksgiving (Tree Lighting) and other
holidays.

Great
Falls Business and Professional
Association was founded in 1985 by
5 local business people (Ralph Lazaro,
Stephen Dulaney, Michael McCombs, Hester
Nettles and Ursula Sahakian) for the
purpose of advancing a strong
relationship between our citizens and
our business community. The GFBPA
emphasizes high business and
professional ethics and sponsors
activities to encourage our residents to
choose business and professional
services offered by our local merchants,
in order to understand our mission let’s
start with a definition of
community: a community is a group of
people living together in one locality
having common interests,
characteristics, goals, needs etc. At
the nucleus of a healthy community is a
successful business core, as well as
centers of religious and cultural
nurturing.
In Great Falls we have a large
proportion of business owners who live
in the community. Truly, it is a
privilege to serve our community.
Enthusiastically, we work, shop, eat and
worship within the community.
